Q: How do I get my customers?

A: You can be the fantastic printer or and stamp maker but if you have no customers then you may as well not bought the equipment. There are many ways to find customers from Craft and Wedding Fairs through to advertising in church magazines and local newspapers. Put flyers thought residential letterbox to visiting shops and other businesses to tout for orders. Even the Internet can be used to generate orders. You have to put in the effort to get the business. Do not rely on orders from friends and family as they would probably want the products for free or for a token payment.

Q: What about competition?

A: Do not see your local high street printer as a competitor. They are more interested in long runs of printing because they are using inks. Therefore the longer the print run, the more profitable it is for them. Generally speaking, you could be described as a short run printer. Indeed you should see them as someone who can give you business and vice versa. You will find that there are very few foil printers, pad printers or rubber stamp makers actively advertising locally and you should take advantage of that.

You will also be able to manufacture Rubber stamps (model dependent), photo glaze onto china plates and make letterpress printing plates.

Q: What are the disadvantages of the polymer plates in hot foil printing?

A: The life of polymer plates is anything from a few hundred to around 30,000. The pre-treatment, the pressure adjustment and the temperature all affect the life of the polymer plate. Polymer plates are not suitable when foil stamping fine artwork or small typefaces. To become proficient in the use of polymer plates for hot foil printing requires practice

Q: Does Polydiam Industries Limited offer any form of finance?

A: Yes, we are a licensed credit broker but we generally recommend you organise your own finance. To arrange finance is not very difficult and the first line of finance is your bank, then credit card loans (e.g. Barclaycard Loan), other loan companies such as AA loans, and other finance companies advertising in yellow pages, newspapers ,TV, magazines etc. Do not borrow money at extortionate rate and do not buy equipment with a credit card without the finance to pay it off when the statement comes.

Q: Can I buy individual machines as opposed to packages?

A: Yes you can.  As a new business start up, a package is easier as you will have all your basic requirements to get started. It is always recommended you buy a platemaker if you are buying a print machine whether it’s a pad printer, hot foiler, stamp printer etc.
